I would like to first take this opportunity to congratulate the new Leadership of the African Union, with H.E. Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat as its Chairperson. A warm welcome and congratulations to the newly elected Commissioner for Social Affairs, H.E. Ms Amira Elfadil Mohammed Elfadil! The AMC, a pan-African network of over 120 organisations working on children’s issues, looks forward to supporting the AU’s efforts in the protection and promotion of the rights of children in the continent.

The AMC carried out in 2012 an analytical view of the progress African countries are making in fulfilling their obligations as part of the AU on the AU Framework on the Africa fit Children. The assessment is informed by an elaborate AU Africa fit for Children Monitoring and Evaluation Framework developed in 2011 by ACPF.
