Message from the President of AMC - Mr. George Nyakora

Mr. George Nyakora, President of the MovementDear Custodians, AMC Members, Partners, Friends and Children,

I send you warm season greetings as we come to the end of another year that has been characterized with so much suffering for children around the world and particularly here in Africa, not with standing our collective efforts to bring the child rights agenda to the appropriate forum.

    Where are we?

    References to three Sub Saharan countries, from East to West: Uganda - Cameroon - Senegal

    The AMC carried out in 2012 an analytical view of the progress African countries are making in fulfilling their obligations as part of the AU on the AU Framework on the Africa fit Children. The assessment is informed by an elaborate AU Africa fit for Children Monitoring and Evaluation Framework developed in 2011 by ACPF.

About the establishment of AMC

In May 2006, a special meeting of children, youth and human rights  organisations in Africa convened after the Second International Policy Conference on the  African Child organised by The African Child Policy  Forum (ACPF) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The AfricaWide Movement for Children on behalf of the Children in Africa, join hands with the rest of the Civil Society Organisations in Africa in congratulating the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) on the occasion of the launch of the Campaign for the Universal Ratification of and Reporting on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC).
